Do you say this to yourself? Do you know what you should do to get in shape but you just aren’t doing it?
As a life and business coach I hear this from my clients all the time. Here are a few tips to help you bust through whatever is in your way and start to take action:
1) Notice what gets in the way of being active. Whether it is about not having the right clothing at hand, feeling like you don’t have even ONE extra minute in your day, or just plain not starting to exercise once you’ve gotten everything ready…. Start to keep a log of what REALLY happens when you intend to exercise and don’t.
2) Review your list of what gets in the way and set aside time to solve those problems. For instance, if you don’t have seasonally appropriate workout clothes, identify what you need and purchase it. If you find that you don’t have time to exercise, see what happens if you start with 10 minutes 3 times a week of some physical activity that you enjoy. If you notice that you only exercise when you are with other people, perhaps enroll yourself in a class or with a personal trainer.
3) Keep noticing what is working. When you do exercise, notice what WORKED to make that happen. Often we get so wound up in what is NOT working that we forget to notice what IS working. See if you can add more of the things that help you exercise and less of what gets in the way of exercise.
