Dave Ellis tells us how he used what he learned in the Brains & Balance class in real life.
“On my most recent fishing trip to Alaska, I had the opportunity to put what I learned in the Brains & Balance class to the test. With wind blowing at 30-45 mph and the seas running 13 to 17 feet (not to mention blinding rain); the words of Holly Kouvo (Brains & Balance Instructor) kept pounding in my head. “Stand up straight, shoulders back, tighten the tummy, and focus my eyes straight ahead. Pick up your feel from the hip and not from the knee when passing over rough footing.”
Faced with crossing the boat from one side to the other, footing was indeed ‘rough’. Not only was the deck pitching in every direction, but it was covered with hatches projecting up about 1 1/2 inches. After watching several people attempt to traverse the deck (and fail spectacularly), there I was and 85 year old student (literally the last man standing) repeating the words from Holly in my head. I was able to get to the fishing rods and bring in a 30+ pound salmon to net. I made several trips safely around the deck using all that Holly taught me.
I can only say that the Brains & Balance course was worth every minute spent in class!”

I care about the whole person. I want you to benefit from being fit and eating healthy. I promise to be your biggest fan. I’ll applaud you as you reach your goals.
“In the nine months that I worked with Holly, I made major improvements in strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance. I reached my goal weight in July 2002 and have kept the weight off so far. My overall health has improved and I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been as an adult. I don’t think that it’s an exaggeration to say that Holly helped save my life.” — John Buscaglia, Hudson, MA
