We may not all be CEO’s but you can get in touch with your business brain and use the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) strategy to be successful at losing weight. Using it will make you more aware of how you can succeed.
- Strengths – Identify your strengths. What is one of your positive traits you can utilize towards your weight loss? Maybe you’re very organized. Use this skill to organize and plan your meals for the week. Once you plan the meals, get the shopping list together and go buy the food.
- Weaknesses – Acknowledge your weaknesses. What weakness of yours is contributing to your weight problem. Maybe you’re a stress eater? Put a strategy in place to use when you are stressed and reach for that bag of chips. STOP and think about what you are doing. Take a BREATH and reach for a healthy alternative instead.
- Opportunities – Seek out Opportunities. If you have been doing the same activities, eating the same foods, it is time to look for something different. Just like when your body reacts positively to changing your exercise program, changing the foods you eat will give you a larger repertoire of foods to choose from and you will not get bored.
- Threats – Eliminate the threats in your environment that will hinder your weight loss success. Analyze your patterns carefully. If you tend to sit in the chair and eat while watching TV at night. Do something different instead; check email or read a book. Sit in a different chair and skip the snacks. Eliminate the threats.
By applying the same principles as you do in SWOT to your weight loss strategy you can succeed.
